I have worked in the Virginia Beach School system as a Computer Resource Specialist since 1998. It is my responsibility to help teachers integrate technology into the curriculum. As the CRS, my role is evolving into helping teachers integrate 21st Century Learning skills and Web 2.0 tools into teaching and learning. It is a fast-paced dynamic challenge with technology's constant changing environment. It is a challenge I am passionate about and believe in completely. Previously, I taught as an adjunct instructor status for Old Dominion University. I taught face to face and online sections for preservice educators with how to integrate instructional technology.
Additionally, I had served as a STAR member for Discovery Education'sDiscovery Educator Network, or DEN, for short. The DEN is a great professional resource for educators interested in making learning fun for students. DEN resources focus on using digital media to motivate student learning. As a DEN member, one can also apply to become a STAR and enjoy the complete range of resources available as well as networking opportunities among members. STAR members are also invited to participate in various events held around VA, from social events to professional development workshops.
